What was ancient Rome like when it was first settled?

It was a almost barbarious settlement, settled by romanlus, it was formed by mostly farmers on a marsh land area, it consisted of mostly men so they mated with the samnite (they kidnapped the women), later the city joined the etruscian leauge, then became civilized ... Things happend and then they seperated and took over the etruscian leauge forming the roman republic.
