The immediate cause of World War 1 was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. There was other causes that started the war such as: Triple Alliance (Central Powers), Nationalism, Triple Entente (Allied Powers), Militarism, Imperialism, and Alliance System. Archduke was assassinated by a Serbian terrorist group called the Black Hand.
