What was the most commonly held belief of the Social Gospel movement?

The most commonly held belief of the Social Gospel movement was that the Second Coming could not perpetuate, as long as their was evil on the earth and as long as humankind continued to perpetuate evil. This meant evil in all kinds of places, such as poverty, racism, alcoholism, unclear environment and the danger of war. Although this was seen as a more progressive and liberal movement, this was an idea that was embraced more in the church order, than with the people who attended church and the broader society. Although it dissolved rather rapidly, some groups still use this movement as an inspiration through their churches.
