The correct answer is B) Baron Friedrich von Steuben.

The commander that turned a group of American recruits into skilled soldiers was Baron Friedrich von Steuben.

Baron Friedrich von Steuben was a Prussian Military Officer that accepted the invitation of General George Washington, leader of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, to come and train the American soldiers that had limited military preparation. So while stationed at Valley Forge in the winter of 1777-1778, Baron Friedrich von Steuben trained the American troops so well that the Continental Army ended up defeating the British troops and winning the American Revolution.
