The Spanish wanted to force the conversion to Christianity, that is why the capture some Pueblo's religious leaders and killed some. Pueblo people immediately took actions and started the revolt as a retribution act. Historians say that Pueblo people killed 400 Spanish people. Pueblo people forced Spanish to leave the area.
