How did colonial rule contribute to latin americas continuing economic dependence after colonialism?

    Colonial rule was based on exporting everything, not on making things and investing into the economy. When the countries became decolonialised, they didn't have an industry or an economy of their own so they had to rely on trading resources with other countries who wanted to trade. For example, sugar cane was exported to places where sugar would be made.
