    About 360 million

    Explanation:

About 1.5 billion people on Earth speak English, and around 360 million people speak English as a first language. This is mainly the influence of Britain being a major trading force and a colonial force. Where ever the British Empire went people there learned English, and since the sun never set on the British empire that made for a lot of English speakers. There are currently 18 countries in the world where English is an official language. Those countries are: Antigua and Barbuda, United Kingdom, New Zealand, St Lucia, United States of America, Belize, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, Grenada, Ireland, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevs, The Bahamas, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Australia and Barbados. There are other countries that also speak english but it is not their primary language so they did not make the list.
