    Explanation:

In the 1990s, discoveries in natural gas had given it more importance as an energy source in Egypt. The Egyptian natural gas reserves were estimated at 66 trillion cubic feet as at 2005. Significant deposits of natural gas have been discovered in the Nile Delta and western desert areas of Egypt and domestic consumptions had risen as a result of power plants converting from thermal sources for production, to natural gas. Egypt's natural gas is exported through the Arab gas pipeline to the middle East. The Egyptian LNG produce and export natural gas as liquefied natural gas.

Several other production companies include the middle delta, Cairo, east delta, upper Egypt, West delta and hydro plant electricity production companies. In the early 2000s power production and distribution capacity were decreased by 20% due to increased demand.
