The population of a town increased by 16 23 % in 1990 and 10% in 1991. If the population of the town at the beginning of 1990 was 30,000, what was it at the end of 1991?

    Population was 30,000 and increase of 16,23% is an increase of 4869 more people, so the population in 1991 is 34,869, that increases 10% over that year, which is 3486, 10% of the new population. At the end of 1991, the population is 38,355.
