    Housing prices are down. - During recessions, the housing prices usually go down. For example, in the Great Depression of 1929, the housing prices went down 24%.

    Less demand means more options for buyers. - Because of the recession, a lot of people lost their jobs, and because of that, not many people had money to buy a home. This way, there were more options for people who saved money for that and more options to chose from.

    Less demand means less competition with other buyers - Less demand means that fewer people want to buy houses. When the economy is doing great, more people have jobs and more people have money and more people want to buy new homes and this way there is more competition. During recessions, this does not happen.
