    Combining like terms is easy, all you have to do is either add or subtract them to put them together based on their signs and their position in the problem. For example:

    4x+9x = 13

    for this problem you would have to add the four and the nine because they are both on the left side of the equal side.

    example 2.

    5x=5x+10

    for this problem you would have to subtract the 5x on the right side of the equal sign from the 5x on the left side because we want to get the problem to x=

    we would have to subtract because the 5x on the right is positive and it is on the opposite side of the equal sign.

    Combing like terms is like adding numbers together, for example: 3+3-1+8 = x, when you combine the like terms you add 3 and 3 to make 6, minus 1 to make 5, and add 8 to make 13
