a homeowner is planning an addition to her house. she wants the new family room to be a rectangle with an area of 192 feet. The contractor says that the length needs to be 4 more feet than the width. What will the dimensions of the new room be?

    length=16feet width=12feet

    This may not be the best way, i just stumbled upon the answer using this.

    I knew 14*14=196, which is relatively close to 192.

    Then, I took away 2 from one of the 14s and added it to the other 14.

    14-2=12 14+2=16

    Apparently, 16*12 is 192, so that's the answer.
