    remove the radical by squaring both sides of the equation:

    (√ (3x-1)) ^2 = 7^2

    To get:

    3x-1 = 49

    Add 1 to each side:

    3x = 50

    Divide both sides by 3:

    X = 50/3

    x = 16 2/3
