These girls are selling cases of popcorn to earn money for a band trip. In week 1, Emily sold 2 3/4 cases. Brenda sold 4 1/4 cases, and Shannon sold 3 1/2cases. How many cases of popcorn have the girls sold in all? Explain how you found your answer

    3/4 + 1/4 = 1 (common denominators)

    2+4+3=9 (Whole numbers)

    9+1=10

    1/2 wasn't added to the above equations, and needs to be added now

    Step-by-step explanation: 1. 2 3/4 + 4 1/4 = 6 4/4 or 7

    2. 3 1/2 + 7/1 = 14

    3. 7 + 14 = 21
