The value of y is equal to 1.
7 (y - 3) = 2 (y - 9) + 2y
Distributive property.
7y - 21 = 2y - 18 + 2y
Combine like terms.
7y - 21 = 4y - 18
Subtract 4y from both sides.
3y - 21 = - 18
Add 21 to both sides.
3y = 3
Divide both sides by 3.
y = 1
