    1. Multiply both sides by 6 (the LCM of 2, 3,)

    3w + 42 = 2w + 54

    2. Subtract 42 from both sides

    3w = 2w + 54 - 42

    3. Simplify 2w + 54 - 42 to 2w + 12

    3w = 2w + 12

    4. Subtract 2w from both sides

    3w - 2w = 12

    5. Simplify 3w - 2w to w

    w=12

    Your answer is 12

    W/2 - w/3 = 9-7

    3w - 2w = 9-7

    W = 2
