    Basically both equations can get you the same answer

    Step-by-step explanation:

    for the first

    y=x+1

    y=4+1

    y=5

    y=-4+1

    y=-3

    for the second

    2y-2=2 (4)

    2y-2=8

    2y=8+2

    2y=10

    y=5

    2y-2=2 (-4)

    2y-2=-8

    2y=-8+2

    2y=-6

    y=-3
