    H = b + 12

    area = 1/2 * h * b = 80

    1/2 (b + 12) * b = 80

    b^2 + 12b - 160 = 0

    (b + 20) * (b - 8) = 0

    b = - 20 which is impossible or b = 8cm which is the ans

    A = 1/2 bh

    2 A = bh

    2 (80) = b (b + 12)

    160 = b^2 + 12b

    b^2 + 12b - 160 = 0

    (b-8) (b+20) = 0

    b - 8 = 0; b = 8

    b + 20 = 20; b = - 20

    so

    base b = 8

    height = b + 12 = 8 + 12 = 20

    answer

    base = 8
