If Morgan and Kira have a number of jelly beans in a ratio of 5 : 3. Kira and Mann have a

number of jelly beans in a ratio of 6 : 1 How many does Mann have? explain and show your work

    Kira has 3/8 of the total of Jelly Beans available. Morgan has the other 5/8

    So if there are 56 Jelly beans in total 3/8 * 56 = 21 which would be Kira's share.

    Morgan would have 5/8 * 58 = 35 Jelly beans (Not that this is really relevant).

    Now Kira and Mann have a ratio of 6:1 which means that she has 6/7 of the total between those two. He therefore must have 1/7 of the total.

    Her total is 21.

    1/7 of 21 = 3

    Therefore Mann would have 3 jelly beans.

    3/8 * 1/7 is the total the number of Jelly Beans that he would have if the total was N

    N (3/8 * 1/7) = N (3/56)
