    Let a = # of adult tickets sold

    Let c = # of children's tickets sold

    250 + c = a

    c + 250 + c = 2c + 250 = 2750

    2c = 2500

    c = 1250

    a = 1250 + 250 = 1500

    Least number of adult tickets that the cashier needs to sell for the receipts to be $2750 is 1500.
