    3 5/26

    Step-by-step explanation:

You can work this a couple of ways.

    1. Find the total number of siblings for the current students (25*3), add the new number of siblings (8) and students (1), then recompute the average.

    (25*3 + 1) / (25 + 1) = 83/26 = 3 5/26

    ___

    2. Find the difference of the number of siblings from average, and divide that difference by the new total number of students. This will be the change in the average.

    difference from average = 8 - 3 = 5

difference divided by new student total = 5/26

    new average = 3 + 5/26 = 3 5/26
