decrease = (original number - new number) / (original number) * 100
= (188 - 42) / (188) * 100
= (146 / 188) * 100
= 0.7766 * 100
= 77.66% decrease ... not sure if u need ur answer rounded to the nearest percent or not ... if so, its a 78% decrease
