    Step-by-step explanation:

    To work out the perimeter, you have to add all of the measurements of each side together. We already know that the shape is a square, meaning that all the sides are the same length. So if you divide the 500 inches by 4 (because there are 4 sides to a square) you get the answer 125 inches per side.

    To double check this is right, you can do the reverse question. To do this you just add 125 four times (125 + 125 + 125 + 125) which should give you the answer 500, which was where we started
