The number of infielders on a baseball team is one less than three times the number of pitchers. if there are eleven infielders, how many pitchers are there?

    let the number of pitchers be x

    pitchers = x

    infielder = 3x - 1

    There are 11 infielders

    3x - 1 = 11

    3x = 11 + 1

    3x = 12

    x = 4

    There are 4 pitchers
