To start out, you need to know the formula for the volume of a cylinder.

    The formula is:

Volume = (pi) x (radius of the round end) ² x (length or height of the cylinder)

Save this formula in a convenient place. If you save it in your own memory,

then you won't need to go looking for it when you need it.

Now, when you have a problem where you need to find the volume of a cylinder,

    do this:

    - - Make sure the radius that you have and the length or height that you have

are both in the same unit. Then take the formula.

    - - In the place where it says (pi), write in ' 3.142 '.

    - - In the place where it says "radius of the round end", write in the radius

of the round end. If somebody gave you the diameter of the cylinder

instead of the radius, write in 1/2 of the diameter.

    - - In the place where it says "length or height of the cylinder", write in the

length or height of the cylinder.

Now you have an equation, with nothing but numbers on the right side.

You're done with the mathematics, and now, the rest is only arithmetic.

Do the squaring and the multiplication with the numbers on the right side

of the equation, and the answer to all of that is the volume of the cylinder.
