Find the error in the solution given

2 (x-4) = 56

2x-8=56

2x-8+8=56-8

2x-48

2x/2=48/2

x=24

    The mistake was made at step 3. On the left side of the equation 8 was added and on the right side of the equation 8 was subtracted. 8 should have been added to both sides of the equation.

    To correct:1. 2 (x-4) = 562. 2x-8=563. 2x-8+8=56+84. 2x=645. 2x/2=64/26. x = 32
