    Both trains meet at 10 am.

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Step 1: Find the time Los Angeles bound train takes to travel 400 miles

    Speed = 80 mph

    Distance = 400

    Time = T1

    Train leaves at 9 am

    Time = Distance/Speed

    Time = 400/80

    Time = 5 hours

    Step 2: Find the time Sacramento bound train takes to travel 400 miles

    Speed = 60 mph

    Distance = 400 miles

    Time = T2

    Train leaves at 7 am

    Time = Distance/Speed

    Time = 400/60

    Time = 6.67 hours

    Step 3: Calculate the time when both trains will meet

    Los Angeles bound train

    Leaves at 9 am

    1 hour at 10 am

    2 hours at 11 am

    3 hours at 12 pm

    4 hours at 1 pm

    5 hours at 2 pm (reaches destination)

    Sacramento bound train

    Leaves at 7 am

    1 hour at 8 am

    2 hours at 9 am

    3 hours at 10 am

    4 hours at 11 am

    5 hours at 12 pm

    6 hours at 1 pm

    7 hours at 2 pm

    Both trains will meet at 10 am where the Los Angeles bound train reaches in 1 hour and the Sacramento bound train reaches in 3 hours.
