Jeff hiked for 2 hours and traveled 5 miles. If he continues at the same pace, which equation will show the relationship between the time, t, in hours he hikes to distance, d, in miles? Will the graph be continuous or discrete?

a) d = 0.4t, discrete

b) d = 0.4t, continuous

c) d = 2.5t, discrete

d) d = 2.5t, continuous

    2t = 5d,

    Therefore d = 0.4t

    A Discrete variable is a variable in which it can take only specific values in a given range.

    A Continuous variable is a variable in which it can take any value in a given range.

    In my opinion, I would say it is continuous as you are multiplying a value by a constant so it can take any value in a given range.
