A jewelry store buys small boxes in which to wrap items that they sell. The diagram below shows one of the boxes. Find the lateral area and the surface area of the box to the nearest whole number. Use the large 14 x 7 cm rectangles on the top and bottom as the bases. 35 cm2; 364 cm2. 70 cm2; 364 cm2. 35 cm2; 266 cm2. 70 cm2; 266 cm2.

    Length 14 cm

    Width 7 cm

    Heigth 1.66 cm

    Lateral area = 2lh + 2wh

    LA = 2 (14cm) (1.66cm) + 2 (7cm) (1.66cm)

    LA = 46.48 cm² + 23.24 cm²

    LA = 69.72 cm²

    Surface area = 2 (wl + hl + hw)

    SA = 2 (7cm*14cm) + 2 (1.66cm*14cm) + 2 (1.66cm*7cm)

    SA = 196 cm² + 46.48 cm² + 23.24 cm²

    SA = 265.72 cm²
