    4

    Step-by-step explanation:

    n represents the number

    n = - 12 + n2 reorder terms

    n = n2 - 12 subtract n from both sides

    0 = n2 - n - 12 FOIL

    0 = (n - 4) (n + 3)

    (-3,4)

    So the only 2 numbers that could be 12 less than its square are - 3 and 4, but I am pretty sure that they want positive numbers, so I would go with 4.

    Is it 4? Because the square of it is 16 and 16-12 = 4
