Jan is cutting a rectangular pan of brownies. She cut them in half and then cut each of those halves in half again. She did the same thing going the other direction. How many brownies does she have?

    The first half make it 2, then the second half makes it 4, then the last half makes it 8 brownies. 8 brownies is your answers.

    When she halves them, she doubles the number of brownies since she halves all of them

    1 at first

    halves it so double 1 and get 2

    then cut those in half so doubled each

    2 times 2=4
