First you have to add 2.4 + 1.75 to get the number of miles she hiked in the morning. Then you subtract the the answer of that from 6.5 miles. Then you have to find out the difference of the miles she hiked in the morning and the miles she hiked in the afternoon by subtracting the miles she hiked in the afternoon from the miles she hiked in the morning.

    1.75 + 2.4

    4.15

    6.5 - 4.15

    2.35

    4.15 - 2.35

    1.8 miles is the answer
