    From the information given, the shape of the room is not mentioned but we know from the dimensions that the room is not a square. If we assume the room is rectangular, then we can find out the perimeter of the ceiling

    P = 2w + 2l

    where P is perimeter, w is width and l is length

    8 3/4 = 8.75 written as a decimal fraction, and 10 7/8 = 10.875

    P = 2 (8.75) + 2 (10.875)

    P = 17.50 + 21.75

    P = 39.25 ft

    Since we have not been given the unit and measure of molding needed per a given area, we can conclude by stating that William will need enough moulding to cover 39.25 ft
