There are a total of 17 balls in the bag at the start.

    a) Celia's sister has 9 tennis balls now (3+6 = 9)

    b) There are 9 tennis balls left in the bag (12-3 = 9)

    c) Celia gave her sister 3 balls. The problem does not say anything about her giving her more than 3 balls.

    d) There are 14 balls left in the bag now (17-3 = 14)
