    (g - h) = (2a + 4) - (3a² + a) = 2a + 4 - 3a² - a = a + 4 - 3a²

    (g - h) (a) means replace all of the "a"s from "g-h" with "a" = a + 4 - 3a²

    (g-h) (a) = g (a) - h (a) = 2a + 4 - (-3a²+a) = 2a + 4 + 3a²-a = 3a² + a + 4

    (g-h) (a) = 3a² + a + 4
