The gauge on a gas tank showed that the tank is 3/4 full. After traveling some distance, the gauge showed that the tank was 1/8 full. The tank was then filled to its full capacity by adding 16.8 gallons of gasoline. How many gallons of gasoline were in the tank when was 3/4 full?

    7/8 of the tank=16.8 gallons

    7/8t = 16.8

    1/8t = 16.8/7 = 2.4

    3/4t = 6/8t = 2.4*6 = 14.4 gallons
