    Switch the sides, so that g is on the left (for the sake of simplicity, to have the standard format) : 3g+2=x Then, move 2 to the other side (remember to change it to negative), so you'll isolate g: 3g=x-2 Finally, divide both sides by 3, so you'll truly isolate g: g=x/3-2/3
