    We can use two variables: W and L

    W = 1/3 L (or L / 3)

    If L = 7 3/4 feet:

    7 3/4 = 31/4 = 93/12

    W = (93/12) / 3 = 31/12

    W = 31/12 feet or 2 7/12 feet.
