    Since the rate is 22.5, just multiply by 2.5 and you get 56.25, subtract that and the answer is 3.75 miles from the destination

    Givens

    r = 22.5 mph

    t = 2.5 hours

    d = ?

    Formula

    d = r * t

    Solution

    d = 22.5 * 2.5

    d = 56.25

    So in 2.5 hours he has gone 56.25 miles. The train's destination = 60 miles.

    How much is left?

    60 - 56.25 = 3.75 miles.

    Answer: There is 3.75 miles left to go.
