Mr rivers bought a can of paint. He used 3 / 8 of it to paint a shelf. He used 1/4 to paint a wagon. He used some to paint a birdhouse. He has 1/8 of the paint left. How much paint did he use for the birdhouse?

    So you have to subtract the total paint with the paint he used and the paint left to find the paint he used for the birdhouse.

    So the equation:

    total paint - 3/8+1/4 (which can be also 2/8) + 1/8 = the paint he used for the birdhouse.

    then you add them together and the answer is 8/8 - 6/8 = 2/8

    So the answer is 2/8 and if u simplify it it's 1/4

    He used 1/4 of the paint to paint the birdhouse.
