Let x = second number

x-1 = first number

2x = 4 (x-1) + 26

2x = 4x - 4 + 26

2x - 4x = 22

-2x = 22

(-1) (-2x) = 22 (-1)

2x = - 22

x=-11 (second number)

-11-1 = - 12 (first number)
