    Distribute the four and seven to get

    12x-20=14x+21

    Then subtract the 12x and both side and get

    -20=2x+21

    The subtract 21 on both sides to get

    -41=2x

    Then divide both sides by 2 and get

    X=-41/2

    And as a decimal it is - 20.5

    X = - 41/2

    12x-20=14x+21

    12x-20+20=14x+21+20

    12x=14x+41

    12x-14x=14x+41-14x

    -2x=41

    -2x/-2=41/-2

    x=-41/2
