    77 children and 186 adults

    Step-by-step explanation:

After a LONG time testing out numbers, I finally found two numbers. What I did was used the equation 3x + 5.5y = 1254. I kept filling in two numbers that can add to 263. For example, I filled in the variables with 77 and 186. Like this: 3 (77) + 5.5 (186) = 1254. 77 times 3 equals 231 and 186 times 5.5 equals 1023. Add those two numbers together to get 1254. So, there were 77 children and 186 adults.
