The formula for area of a rectangle is length * width, Susan's garden is 18 feet * 10 feet which is equal to 540 square feet. Jason's garden is 17 feet * 31 feet which is equal to 527 square feet. Subtract their areas and you get a difference of 13 feet.

Answer: Susan's garden has a larger area, by 13 feet.
