A 2.5-kg rock is dropped off a 32-m cliff and hits a spring, compressing it 57 cm. What is the spring constant? Round your answer to two significant figures.

    m = 2.5 kg

    h = 32 m

    s = 57 cm = 0.57 m

    (mxg) (h+s) = (Dxs^2) / 2

    D = (2xmxg) (h+s) / s^2

    D = (2x2.5x9.81) (32+0.57) / 0.57^2

    D = 4917.08 N/m
