    acceleration = (final velocity - initial velocity) / total time taken

    initial velocity of cheetah = 16.7 m/s

    final velocity of cheetah = 26.4 m/s

    time taken to change speed = 5 s

    acceleration = (final velocity - initial velocity) / total time taken

    so acceleration = (26.4 - 16.7) / 5

    acceleration = 9.7/5 = 1.94

    the average acceleration of the cheetah over this period is 1.94 m/s²
