A spherical balloon is initially uncharged. If you spray positive charge uniformly over the balloon's surface, would it expand or contract? What would happen if you spread negative charge instead? Explain.

    When the balloon's surface is sprayed with positive charge and there is an electric field present, the balloon will expand since the positive charge will be attracted to the negative charge particles outside the balloon. If the surface is sprayed with negative charge, the opposite will occur.
