    Alkanes (also known as paraffins or saturated hydrocarbon are chemical compounds that consist only of the element carbon (c) and Hydrogen (H) (i. e, hydrocarbons), wherein these atoms are linked together exclusively by single bonds (i. e., they are saturated compounds).
