A bird has a forward force due to its wings of 3 N. The drag force of the air is 2 N backwards and its lift force and the force of gravity are 2 N upwards and downwards, respectively. What is the net force on the bird? A. 9 N B. 1 N forwards C. 7 N forwards D. 1 N backwards

    The net vertical force is (2N up) + (2N down) = zero.

    The net horizontal force is (3N forward) + (2N backward) = 1N forward.

    That's the net force on the whole bird. It's choice-B, and the bird accelerates straight forward.
