"First the weak and strong atomic forces are mediated by gluons, and W and Z messenger bosons. The electro static force is mediated by photon messengers. There is no similarity between the atomic forces and the EM force.

That being said, the two atomic forces are alike in that their effective ranges are limited to the size of the nucleus and they both act on the quarks making up the nucleons.

They differ in what they do. The weak force mediates negative beta decay, which can change a neutron into a proton. The strong force actually binds the protons and neutrons to keep the nuclei intact despite the strong repulsion of the positive charged protons.

They also differ in that the strong force uses gluons to do the job and the weak force uses W and Z particles to do its job."

the work above is not my own but a website that ive used for all my science classes
